Operations Coordinator

One of my goals is process and standardization improvement in the field, and there is no better way to determine areas of improvement than getting my hands dirty alongside the subject matter experts.

As the operations coordinator, I spend my day collaborating with other teams, finding solutions to complex problems, and planning out the deployment operations for upcoming missions.

The culture at Saildrone is cultivated by the hardest-working group of people I've ever met. I feel safe and heard in my role, and I have a good work-life balance. That comes from the support of my direct supervisor.

I was inspired to join Saildrone because I wanted a role that would give me a sense of purpose. As a military spouse, I was very interested in the maritime domain awareness work we do here. My core values aligned with the core values of the company.

I've had the opportunity to go on three deployments this year, two domestic and one international, working with the Explorer and Voyager vehicle classes.

Every project provides an opportunity to work with new people, to learn something new about a place, and to forge a new path.

The Hurricane missions are really interesting to track. We all get excited when one of our USVs successfully sails into the eye of a big storm.

There is almost always something new to handle that involves creative critical thinking.

No day is the same, and that keeps me engaged and motivated to succeed. I wake up excited to go to work and leave at the end of the day feeling like I contributed to something bigger than myself.

I’ve enjoyed learning and working in the Atlassian suite, where we’ve built the scheduling and tracking tools used from the ground up. It’s helping us minimize our administrative time, and evolving our processes for the better. Every project provides an opportunity to work with new people, to learn something new about a place, and to forge a new path.
