Benefits
Transforming Ocean Access through Advanced Technology
Uncrewed solutions deliver a cost-effective alternative to crewed ships while simultaneously de-risking projects and reducing manpower demands.
Saildrone USVs are equipped with cutting-edge scientific sensors and cameras to monitor and gather essential data for offshore energy projects. This includes high-resolution ocean mapping, metocean data, persistent ecosystem monitoring, and persistent maritime security.
Together with optical cameras and proprietary machine-learning models, the Saildrone platform delivers real-time, 24/7 visual detection of maritime activity in the vicinity of protected assets, including identifying vessels and potential threats.
Long Endurance
Saildrone’s patented wing harnesses wind power for infinite propulsion and range on blue water operations, significantly reducing land-based refueling and maintenance requirements compared to traditional crewed platforms. Saildrone USVs have demonstrated up to 100 days of continuous operation and over 82% of uptime on operational missions.
Leading Industry Sensors
Saildrone vehicles are equipped with cutting-edge payloads and advanced sensor packages, including top-of-the-line, commercially validated echo sounders and metocean sensors. Our proprietary hydrophone array provides unrivaled acoustic capabilities for protected species monitoring.
Quiet Platform
Saildrone USVs are predominantly driven by wind and solar energy, ensuring nearly silent operation. The reduced noise signature increases data quality while shortening the time on project.
Data Quality
Coupled with their long endurance and low environmental impact operations, Saildrone’s nearly silent USVs minimize interference with acoustic sensors. These vehicles can gather high-resolution data 24/7 to meet the most stringent specifications and data standards.
Multiple Mission Objectives
Saildrone USVs are capable of performing missions with multiple objectives simultaneously—ocean mapping, metocean data, and maritime security situational awareness. This mission flexibility provides offshore wind projects with an economical and efficient life-cycle solution.
Diesel/Electric Propulsion
Saildrone’s Voyager and Surveyor classes are designed with diesel-electric propulsion systems for high-sprint speeds and continuous 3kW power generation when required.

HOW IT WORKS
Your Mission is in Good Hands
Mission Planning
Working closely with customers, Saildrone Mission Management conducts an in-depth pre-mission planning assessment. This includes a comprehensive feasibility analysis to pinpoint suitable deployment zones and determine the most efficient mission routes.
Mission Execution
Saildrone handles every aspect of the mission, in coordination with the customer, from start to finish—logistics, deployment, and operations. Monitor your mission remotely using the Saildrone Mission Portal for real-time data assessment and swift adjustments to survey plans. Raw data is available in near real time for rapid processing via a high-speed, low-latency Starlink connection.
Post Mission
After the mission, Saildrone takes charge of vehicle retrieval and logistical coordination. When required, Saildrone’s team of experts will post-process the data and deliver a comprehensive data package to the customer.

Client Stories
Learn more about how Saildrone is working with offshore energy stakeholders to scale offshore energy production.
“
Saildrone and RPS are working together to provide a unique, flexible, and adaptable solution to marine mammal monitoring of large areas over significant time periods, using smart tools to reduce personnel in the field but without decreasing the monitoring and mitigation provided to protect our marine animal neighbors.”
Stephanie Milne
RPS Team Leader, US Offshore Renewables
“
With a zero operational carbon footprint, no impact to the marine ecosystem, a diverse payload, and the ability to stay at sea for extended lengths of time, Saildrone is ideally suited to provide never-before-collected information about offshore bat migration patterns. This important information will allow us to understand and minimize the potential impacts of offshore wind energy development on bat populations.”
Michael Whitby
BCI Director of Bats & Wind Energy Program
